1 year of lnroom.live
I published the first video about CLN on https://lnroom.live last year on November 8, 2022.
So far we've done 16 live coding sessions on https://community.corelightning.org and there is 22 others CLN related videos available on https://lnroom.live.
Thank you for supporting that work either by watching those videos, attending to those events or by subscribing to LNROOM newsletter ;)
I'll be a bit busy the next few weeks so next live coding session will be at the end of November. I'll give you more information in the next newsletter.
If there is some topics you would like to see on LNROOM, please let me know!
I watch almost all @niftyney's talks that are related to LN and Core Lightning. The last one I enjoyed is Lightning Masterclass with Base58 & AUT.
In this talk, she gives an high level overview of how Bitcoin and the lightning network work. Then she presents Core Lightning architecture and finally answers to the following questions:
What are the challenges around Lightning scaling?
Who sets the design goals for Lightning?
Is there a way forward to make a self-custodial Lightning wallet a simpler experience?
How do you view the design goals of Lightning with respect to users having direct channel involvement versus delegating custody?
I find that having a sens of an industry's history always helps to understand why the things are how they are and also how they might evolve. In this thread from @bitkitwallet we can learn about the beginning of LN (around 2019), the maximum capacity of the channels at that time and a partnership made between @bitrefill and @Bitfinex (two of the biggest nodes in the network).
As I was looking at @bitkitwallet a product from https://synonym.to, I started reading some of their articles. If you are interested in LSPs you might found the article Lightning: From Reckless to Reliable interesting. John Carvalho, CEO of Synonym, presents some of the features of LSPs, there similarities with ISPs and presents their LSP Blocktank that happens to be open source:
https://github.com/synonymdev/blocktank-server
It feels always great to find some new code to read ;)
I hope you're doing well, See you next time, Tony Aldon https://lnroom.live
